Speciality additives for inkjet inks
16.Aug.2018
Our key supply partner, BYK Chemie, has a range of speciality additives for various inkjet applications.
Eco-solvent inkjet inks
- Wetting and dispersing additives: BYKJET 9131, 9151, 9152 and Disperbyk 2200 and 2001
These additives are 40-100% active and based on acrylate copolymers with various pigment affinic groups. They are highly recommended in pigment blue 15:4, pigment black 7 and pigment white 6 systems. BYKJET 9151 and 9152 are best suited for pigment red and pigment yellow.
UV-Curing inkjet inks
- Wetting and dispersing additives: BYKJET 9150, 9151, 9152 and Disperbyk 111, 168 and BYK-LP N 23016
These structured acrylate copolymers and copolymer solutions are 30-100% active and offer excellent dispersing properties for cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Disperbyk 111 is an excellent choice for titanium dioxide giving exceptional stability and anti-settling properties.
- Surface additives: BYK UV3500, UV3505, BYK 371 (all acryl functional), BYK 333 and 378
These additives optimise surface tension control. In addition, for good levelling properties, take a look at BYK 361N.
- Defoamers: BYK 1790, 1791, 1798 and A535
For excellent defoaming properties, these additives are particle free and range from 10-100% active. They can be used either in the mill-base or let-down phases of production.
Aqueous inkjet inks
- Wetting and dispersing additives: BYKJET 9151, 9152, 9170 and Disperbyk 190, 2010, 2015
These additives are 40-100% active in either water or non-volatile matter. They all have excellent performance properties when used in blue, cyan, yellow, black and titanium dioxide pigmented systems. They can also be used in blue, yellow and red disperse dyes.
- Surface additives:
For the control of static surface tension to assist substrate wetting, BYK 348, 3455, 333 and 378 are recommended.
To achieve good dynamic surface tension control for drop formation performance, take a look at DYNWET 800N, BYK 3400 and 3410
- Defoamers: BYK 019, 1719, 025 and 093
These additives are based on 60-100% active polysiloxane chemistry and have an excellent balance of incompatibility vs compatibility properties to optimise their defoaming characteristics.
- Wax additives: Aquacer 507, 513, 582 and 530
These are high density polyethylene or modified polyethylene based wax materials that provide superior scratch and abrasion properties without affecting or negatively influencing the viscosity, gloss or filterability of the ink.
