BYK-3450 is a silicone surfactant for aqueous printing inks, inkjet inks and overprint varnishes which significantly reduces surface tension.
It is particularly suitable for improving wetting of aqueous systems on very non-polar substrates, such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene terephthalate, and coated offset paper, as well as levelling. It does not increase the surface slip.
Based on trisiloxanes, the additive shows less foam stabilisation compared to conventional silicone surfactants, resulting in improved processing and application.
It only marginally, if at all, stabilises foam and the recoatability is not impaired. If a greater surface slip is required, we recommend that it is combined with a polysiloxane such as BYK-333 or BYK-3760.
