BYK-3451 is a silicone surfactant for aqueous printing inks, inkjet inks and overprint varnishes which significantly reduces surface tension.
It is particularly suitable for improving wetting of aqueous systems on very non-polar substrates, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and coated offset paper, as well as levelling. and does not increase the surface slip.
Based on trisiloxanes, the additive shows less foam stabilisation compared to conventional silicone surfactants, resulting in improved processing and application.
The additive causes a considerable reduction in the surface tension of aqueous systems. It only marginally, if at all, stabilises foam, and the recoatability is not impaired. If a greater surface slip is required, it is recommended that it is combined with a polysiloxane such as BYK-333 or BYK-3760.
