Dried Aluminium Hydroxide

Dried Aluminium Hydroxide is an inorganic salt used as an active in antacids and pre-mixes. It is a basic compound that acts by neutralising hydrochloric acid in gastric secretions.

It may be preferred over alternatives because, being insoluble, it does not increase the pH of the stomach over 7 and therefore does not trigger secretion of excess acid.
